Smoked Ribs and Spicy Rum Sauce - Travel to Los Angeles
Nobody can say that I do things too quickly. Apparently I take my time to do the things that a contract does not obligate me. I am like thatprocrastinatorperfectionist. It's the only thing that explains that it took me two years to perfect, write and photograph this recipe, and write about a trip I arrived weeks ago. A hurray for procrastination, but tomorrow.
The good thing is that you can be sure that these Smoked Ribs with Spicy Rum Sauce have been extensively tested and enjoyed at home. It is one of the meat recipes of which I am most proud. You'll see why.
The reason for my trip to Los Angeles was to attend We All Grow Summit a conference for bloggers, where I taught a culinary photography workshop, along with my classmates Erickaand Meseidy . The best part was traveling with my dear friend Sagrario, from Vanilla and Azafran , I could not have asked for a better travel companion.
The conference was a resounding success, incredibly well organized, very educational and where I met many colleagues, like the sweet Bren , one of my travel companions in the recent culinary tour to Israel , and some whom I did not know personally but with whom I have kept in touch for a long time, such as Vianessa , Pilar , Yvette , Melissa and Maura .
I would like to tell you that I knew a lot about Los angeles, unfortunately for being such a big city, it was impossible to do it in just four days. Something I can say with confidence: It takes much more time than that to enjoy Los Angeles.
As always, I paid as much attention to the meals as to the people and places. And the food did not disappoint me. The most memorable was without a doubt the visit to Guelaguetza, an award-winning restaurant that specializes in the cuisine of Oaxaca, and famous for its moles. A must if you are in Los Angeles. We took time to visit markets, such as the Grand Central Market and the Farmers' Market, the latter with an incredible variety of cuisines, including the Cajun cuisine, which put my taste for spicy food to the test.
Our visit was exhausting, we wanted to take advantage of every minute of our stay after such a long trip. Apart from the market visits we had time to spend on the beach, go shopping and explore Korea Town, where we stayed.
Los Angeles is a huge, rich, incredibly diverse city, and there will definitely be a visit in the future.
And to jump to a totally different theme: The idea of these Smoked Ribs with Rum Sauce from Ron came to me two years ago in a cooking demonstration with the executive chef of Punta Cana Golf and Club. In this I learned the secrets of preparing ribs worthy of being served in the best restaurants.
The sauce was my idea: It is rich, deep, and with the subtle flavor of our rum that completes it.
It took me two years to perfect, write and photograph this recipe, but the wait was worth it. When you do you will get very soft ribs, which fall off the bone, with a sweet, spicy touch and the rich taste of our rum. Unforgettable
Bon Appetite,
Aunt Clara
